1. Responsible party
Appiawave Technology by Finance 7 Seven (Pty) Ltd ("we") is the responsible party for the personal information processed through PayBeta as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA"). Our Information Officer can be reached at privacy@paybeta.co.za.
2. Information we collect
- Identity: full name, ID number, date of birth.
- Contact: email, mobile number, residential address.
- Financial: bank details, employment status, affordability information, credit bureau data.
- Transactional: purchases, instalments, repayments, merchant interactions.
- Device: IP address, browser, device identifiers for fraud prevention.
3. How we use it
- To verify your identity (KYC) and run affordability checks.
- To process instalment plans and collect payments.
- To comply with the National Credit Act, FICA and other applicable laws.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To contact you about your account, plans and (with consent) marketing.
4. Sharing
We share personal information only with: (a) registered credit bureaux, (b) our payment service provider (Appiwave GigPay) to collect instalments, (c) regulators when legally required, and (d) approved merchants strictly limited to data needed to fulfil a transaction.
5. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, audit logging and least-privilege service accounts.
6. Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also object to processing or withdraw consent for marketing at any time. Email privacy@paybeta.co.za. Unresolved concerns can be referred to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
7. Retention
Credit and transaction records are retained for at least five years after closure of your account as required by the NCA and FICA. Other personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes set out above.
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and anonymous analytics to improve the product. We do not sell personal information.
9. Changes
We will publish material changes to this policy in-app at least 14 days before they take effect.
